Mouser Electronics is a global e-commerce website worth billions of dollars. With its expansion into 225 countries and the addition of more local offices, Mouser has a requirement to modify its content pages to accommodate multiple languages and cultures.

The role of content pages is to building the trust with e-commerce users

I had been experiencing 2 phases to build the trust

Phase 1 (2019): Transforming into Responsive Design
Phase 2 (2020-2022): Integrating all the contents pages

Phase I (2019): Transforming into Responsive Design

Turning the desktop application into mobile one, Mouser website was used to be company internal tool to search semiconductors, now we want to enlarge our targeted users to everyone who could access the website.

Phase 2 (2020-2022): Integrating all the contents pages

After compromising several not user friendly designs, I started to seek out how to stand on the business shoe’s to look at the entire content product.
Two goals:
Integration: More consistent components
Enrichment: Adding more  experience to build the trust

Integrate content pages

Since we will adapt a content product some time in the future, I designed all the incoming projects with consistent components and make the experience more intuitive

Enrich the content experience

Except the current content pages, I also used variety of methods to research user's pain points and initiated new projects

I used the path-analysis and users' behavior projects to initiate three projects: login behavior, add customized #, and select credit card

By watching the competitors' updates, I also proposed several projects to improve user's experience in content area.

Reflection

Be aware of data and design as a facilitator

Mouser is the first place I started my user experience design career, and I was able to use my psychology background to analyze the user behavior data, such as the click rate, speed, and flow, to give some insight to initiate some projects. However, data can be tricky, as designer, we should use the data to prove our qualitative findings or to articulate our design. During those projects, I also learned how to design the design system, care a11y issue, and facilitate the project as a designer. Really appreciate my manager and teammates!!
